I initially started this blog as a way to share some of my personal experiences as a budget-conscious Mom with one foot in the San Francisco Bay Area and another in Indonesia. Also, arms that are frantically trying to juggle between keeping my then-2-year-old from using the bookshelf as a ladder and cooking the eighth meal of the day while running a local parents’ meetup group. Oh, and planning our next getaway trip for as steep a discount as possible. You know, to stay sane and all. Because travel IS my drug of choice. It is also the one pre-mommyhood vice I refuse to compromise on.
Speaking of life pre-mommyhood, I never thought anyone could go from being a total self-serving pleasure-seeker to a natural deodorant wearing advocate for extended breastfeeding, attachment parenting, and sleeping in the same room with my 4 year old in a matter of weeks. Yep, I traded in my monthly trips to Vegas for toddler tap dance and trips to Disney.
It’s not always easy. Being a parent makes you regularly question everything in the few moments you have to make a decision. Sometimes these decisions don’t go as well as planned. Sometimes, you give up so much of who you were before you had to plan your day around these beautiful little people that you wonder who you are all over again.
And then you remember there’s one part of you that’s certain; you’re Mom. or Mama. Or sometimes, MAMAMAMAMAMAMAMAMA.
And even on the most challenging of days, I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
